Our large family at Filippi's Pizza Grotto has been part of the restaurant tradition for over 50 years! Every location is still owned by family members of the original founders. Keeping with family tradition, our restaurants serve only the freshest and finest ingredients. We serve a delicious lunch specialty menu from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday, come join us!Our History Vincent DePhilippis and Madeleine Stefani came to America in 1922, Vincent from Italy and Madeleine from France. They met in New York and married in 1925, settling in Philadelphia. In 1950 they moved to San Diego where they opened a deli grocery on India Street, which was called Filippi's Cash and Carry. This was the beginning of what was to become a successful line of family restaurants. Today Filippi's Pizza Grottos are owned and operated by family members of the original founders. We love the food here.Service could use some work but the food is out of this world.

Although this location is not the location in Little Italy, it is one of its many satelitte locations, and serves the same great food closer to home, with a little bit better accessability to parking. Although the salads are not the highest quality, one does not come here for great salad. One comes here for their pizza. Styled in the normal pan pizza style the ingredients are better then other ma and pas . . . but the service makes it more then worth it.
